Physio True-up
Physio True-up does not seem to be working properly. I did a two bike rides with my Edge 1030 over the weekend (TSS 245 & 175). The 7d load screen shows that a 5 mile run on Friday had a load of 110 (orange) whereas both bike rides are shown as 50-55 in grey. Is anybody else seeing this?

It does, I tried it. Doesn’t support connect IQ data fields which I have to use to show more metrics.
I’ve riden a few times with the 945 in the quick connect mount and it is good enough. No need to…

When Physio True-up was first introduced there was some wonkiness where even though you had enabled it during set up it didn’t register and you had to disable & sync and re-enable & sync it before it started working right. Try doing that with the watch first and then your Edge if doing just the watch didn’t work.
It’s worked without having to go through that step with my subsequent Garmin buys but if this is the first time you’ve had 2 devices with this feature it might be the problem.
i have also experienced the same issue.
I had a 935 before that and it worked just fine, I also have the Edge 130. I’ll try to de activate and reactivate it anyways but the problem isn’t that it’s not syncing, it’s that it syncs but the 945 badly calculates the load
What actually is the issue? Is it really Physio TrueUp or the fact that the 945 has (I believe) updated First Beat code and so likely to produce differing load scores. I guess the best test of this is to use both an Edge 1030 and a 945 and compare the exact same activity. Often running will give far higher «stress» scores due to the weight bearing nature of running.
For instance I did both the running and cycling version of the Giro prologue on Zwift. For the running one I got a Load of 188 but only 99 on the bike both measured on the 945. OK not a totally ideal comparison as was trying more on the run but an illustration that running likely to produce somewhat higher scores
That said I did an 800 race last night on the track and got a load of 71. It was «harder» than that bike ride even though only 2:25.1 of effort.
Physio True-up is a big reason I’ve decided to use the 945 for everything. Sold my 520+. It just never worked properly, and the metrics you receive from 945 are better than what you get from the 520+.
Does the 520+ support Extended Display? If it does then you could still at least have a larger and better placed view of the your 945 stats while riding.
It does, I tried it. Doesn’t support connect IQ data fields which I have to use to show more metrics.
I’ve riden a few times with the 945 in the quick connect mount and it is good enough. No need to worry about 2 devices with charging, powering on/ off, syncing, buggy firmware.
Trying the simple life..
Similar problem here. Did a MTB ride on my Garmin 1000 which uploads to GC but doesn’t show on 945.
Eventually managed to get the ride to show on 945 by disabling Physio TrueUp and syncing multiple times, restarting and then reenabling TrueUp. Took quite a few goes though.
Still doesn’t count towards training status or intensity minutes on the watch or in GC. Something must be wrong, not calculating TE or other things is a pain, but not even updating the intensity minutes total when you have time in HR zones seems very wrong.
Garmin Physio TrueUp – Synchronise Your Physiological Data Across Multiple Devices
Yesterday Garmin announced their TrueUp feature. It was no secret that this has been in development for some time and it syncs some of your physiological data across multiple devices.
It is already available in some firmware versions, like this for the Fenix 5S: https://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=11661
Table of Contents | Jump To
What Happens?
After downloading the firmware you will be prompted to enable Physio TrueUp
What is Sync’d
For now it will be: VO2 max, recovery time, training status and training load plus your activities
Me: as of 6/6/2018 I’m not seeing activities transferred to the 935 from either the edge 820 or forerunner 235 and that is testing files that do/do not contain hr data. The ‘test’ files did find their way to Garmin Connect from the 820/235.
What Devices?
These: Edge 1030, Forerunner 935, Forerunner 645, Vivoactive 3, Fenix 5 series
The Garmin press release notes that data from other, non compatible, devices will be transferred TO the compatible devices. I take that to mean that the TrueUp metrics go one-way from those devices.
However it seems, looking at the Garmin forums (link to: garmin.com), that this expected behaviour might only apply to Garmin devices and not to data from Zwift, Sufferfest, etc. Possibly this might be linked to data being transferred to CONNECT, effectively, as a TCX file (I’m not sure about that).
Cycling and Running TrueUp data are considered separate for VO2max.
Data for the last 30 days are considered valid. So if you did an awesome VO2max session 29 days ago and you’ve just bought a new, compatible Garmin device then the VO2max should transfer over to the new device.
Benefit
Clearly if you have more than one device then the potential exists to have different VO2max values on each device. This is clearly nonsensical & wrong – but hopefully now solved.
Your Training Load is necessarily comprised of ALL your trainign load and not just the load recorded on one device. Again, the previous situation was clearly nonsensical & wrong – but hopefully now solved.
The same argument applies to training status and recovery time.
You also will now get all you on-watch totals as being correct.
You may have previosuly been taking two devices with you to ensure that one was kept up-to-date. You no longer have to do that. Indeed it will be interesting to see how duplicate sessions from different devices are handled. No doubt that has been thoroughly thought through.
What Do Garmin Say In FAQs?
Summary: Nice to have
Here’s What You Might See In Garmin Express When You Update The Firmware
I’m not entirely sure it’s all working on 6Jun with many devices not properly completing their sync. Remember that old adage your IT told you about and which you ignored “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” I’ll add to that….let someone else fix it and wait a while, if you can.

Physio TrueUp
Physio TrueUp?
Physio TrueUp.
Forerunner 645?
Physio TrueUp.
Physio TrueUp?

Garmin Connect?
Physio True Up for Body Battery?
So I’ve always wanted to be able to wear a Fenix during the day, but just my little vivosmart at night. or maybe sometimes I want to wear a different watch. but with my Fenix 5X that only seems to work with steps since it doesn’t do Body Battery, etc.
Since the 6 series DOES do Body Battery, stress, etc., would True Up combine all those metrics now?

If you have Physio True Up enabled on both devices, TL and other metrics will transfer from your 830 to your F6.
Tuesdays load is from a ride recorded on my 530, and intergrated onto my F6 via Physio…
I come back from a long discussion with Garmin support.
Physio True Up does not transfer BodyBattery status between devices, neither is any watch recalulating this metric by data received by other devices…

Body battery is not part of physio true up as far as I can tell. I think it should be, do hopefully they can enhance the feature.
To me it would be very useful. Same story.
Sadly it will not. I have submitted a feature request a number of times now.
Even more puzzling is the fact that my Edge 830 did not sync up with my F6 to display correct stress/training load information. The fix, according to Garmin, is to use one main device, where you save your runs/rides, while the other is used for visualization/navigation purposes only.
If you have Physio True Up enabled on both devices, TL and other metrics will transfer from your 830 to your F6.

From Garmin support page :
What is Physio TrueUp?
Physio TrueUp lets you switch between compatible devices while keeping the following data in sync:
What devices are compatible with Physio True-Up?
The following devices will have the capability of sharing physiological data between one another:
Guess this is not updated, as Edge 830 and 530 not is mentioned. True up need to bee enabled on both devices.
Devices will need to be running the latest available software to take advantage of Physio TrueUp.
And stress should absolutely be a part of it, same with body battery. I assume the 530/830 support stress and body battery.
