Introduction
The EMF Reader is a tool that allows you to find evidence and the ghost room.
Signals
The EMF Reader has 5 light signals in front of it. Each light signals a certain amount of activity.
EMF 1
The EMF Reader’s first signal is EMF 1. When there is EMF 1, the EMF Reader shines a green light. EMF 1 means there is little to no paranormal activity.
EMF 2
The second signal of the EMF Reader is EMF 2. This signal shines a bright yellow light. EMF 2 means that you are in the ghost room. The ghost room is the only place where you can find your evidence.
EMF 3
The EMF Reader’s third signal is the EMF 3. This signal shines a bright orange light. This signal means that there was a little bit of ghost activity.
The ghost activity that can activate an EMF 3 signal is when the ghost throws something, or when all the doors close.
EMF 4
The fourth signal is EMF 4. This signal shines a deep orange light at the player. This signal means that there is a considerable amount of ghost activity. This signal will not ever appear if you are dealing with an EMF 5 evidence ghost.
Ways that ghost activity activates the EMF 4 is when the ghost closes doors, throws stuff, and more.
EMF 5
The fifth and last signal of the EMF Reader is EMF 5. This EMF signal shows a deep red light. This signal is also evidence for the ghost. This signal shows up when there is a lot of paranormal activity that the ghost is producing.

This article gives a brief overview of all the tools in the game, that appear once the player had spawned into the »Main Game». This article also talks about how they can be used to obtain evidence in order to find out the ghost type.
Types of evidence
Evidences is the main part in Specter as it is heavily inspired on Phasmophobia, which is a Horror, ghost hunting game and the key player experience is to figure out the right ghost, while also completing objectives to gain money. Players can figure the ghost out by finding certain evidences which can be obtained with tools that spawn once the player load into the »Main Game».
Spirit Box
The Spirit Box is a tool that looks like a radio object; when the player turns the Spirit Box on, it will give off a blue light, signaling that the Player can now try to communicate with the ghost. If the Spirit Box is turned on, by opening the chat which players can either tap on mobile devices, or by pressing the »/» key on an computer, players can then type in questions for the ghost to respond to. The Spirit Box may be dropped and turned on while on the floor, freeing up a space in a player’s inventory.
Once typed into the chat, if the ghost responds to the Spirit Box, it will come up in an Light Red Times-Roman font in the chat box with a voice. The following ghosts can answer the Spirit Box:
The player can ask the Spirit Box and the ghost will respond to these following questions if it has the Spirit box evidence and if the ghost room’s lights are off (Flashlights & Candles do not count). The Ghost will only respond to these following sentences:
Question | Response |
---|---|
”How old are you?” | ”(10-99) Years Old” |
”Are you a boy?” | ”Women”, “Man” |
”Are you a girl?” | ”Women”, “Man” |
”Are you here?” | “Behind”, “Near”, “Near you”, “Window”, “Hello”, “Door”, “I am here”, “Look behind you” |
Where are you? | “Behind”, “Near”, “Near you”, “Window”, “Hello”, “Door” |
Can you turn on the lights? | (The ghost will not say anything, but there is a chance it will turn in the light in the ghost room.) |
Show us a sign/Give us a sign. | (The ghost will not say anything, the ghost gets more angry when you say this,) |
”Ghost Name” | (Only question that you do not need a spirit box for a reply, the ghost will not say anything. Say the ghost name only if you need to anger the ghost or to cause a ghost hunt.) |
EMF 5
EMF 5 is an evidence that can be obtained when the ghost does activities to make it to EMF 5. EMF Reader gathers evidence to help the Player to figure out the ghost and get EMF 5. This item has has 5 lights for different ghost activity within the map.
EMF LEVELS
Green or the first dot on the EMF shows that there is no current activity happening within the map.
Yellow is the second dot on the EMF, This EMF level is most common, it occurs when you are in the ghost’s favorite room.
Dark yellow is the third dot on the EMF and symbolizes that there is ghost activity that shows little bits of aggression. Some examples are: Throwing books, glass shattering, door closing slowly.
Orange is the fourth dot on the EMF and symbolizes that there is aggression toward the player. Some examples are: Hunting, door slamming, walking.
Red is the fifth dot on the EMF and symbolizes the evidence EMF-5. EMF 5 is not possible to get if the ghost does not have the EMF-5 trait as one of the evidences when the ghost was generated EMF 5 can be caused randomly by the ghost.
Spirit book after the ghost has written.
Writing is a evidence that you can get with the Spirit Book. When writing has occurred, scribbling sounds can be heard and distinct, squiggly lines will appear on the book. (Keep in mind that these will have no actual dialogue in particular). The ghosts that are able to write in the Book are the Yurei, Revenant, Shade, Spirit, Oni and Demon.
Orbs, also known as Ghost Orbs are a type of evidence that can be detected via through toggling on the ghost goggles. These light purple orbs glow, move around, and are fairly small. They will appear briefly for a few seconds and disappear. They can also wander around through hallways and other rooms, but always spawn in the ghost room. The ghosts that project orbs are the Shade, Yurei, Phantom, Poltergeist, Mare and Jinn. Orbs can be commonly mistaken for round light fixtures or other players’ flashlights in the distance.
Freezing Temperature
Freezing Temperature is a type of evidence that can be detected the Thermometer tool. If the thermometer indicates that the temperature is below 0, that means there’s a freezing evidence. You will notice a black or white fog (depending if the room lights are on or off) coming from your mouth area. This is the player’s breath condensing. Freezing temperatures are caused by Banshee, Yurei, Phantom, Demon, Mare, and Wendigo.
Fingerprints
Fingerprints are a type of evidence that can be seen on windows and near light switch within the ghost room. When the ghost knocks on the door, fingerprints can appear. Fingerprints can be made by Banshee, Spirit, Revenant, Poltergeist, and Wendigo.
Note: You won’t be able to see fingerprints from outside the place, and dead players cannot see fingerprints that spawned after they died but are able to see fingerprints that spawned before they died.

Mechanics
When a ghost with Fingerprints as its evidence interacts with certain surfaces, it will leave behind fingerprints, specifically the following:
The Prison map has additional places where fingerprints may be left behind:
Maple Lodge Campsite also has additional places where fingerprints may appear:
Fingerprints can be revealed by using a UV flashlight or a glowstick. Depending on the surface area of the object being interacted with, either a fingerprint or a handprint will be visible. Both are counted as evidence of fingerprints. Each object can only have one fingerprint regardless of how many times the ghost interacts with it (e.g. each door can have only one fingerprint at a time). However, ghosts can interact with more than one object to give multiple fingerprints.
A six-fingered handprint conclusively identifies an Obake.
An Obake has a 50% chance to leave a 6-fingered handprint instead of one with 5 fingers, and also separately, each fingerprint has a 50% chance to last for 1 minute instead of 2 minutes.
Fingerprints will disappear after 2 minutes, allowing new Fingerprints to be left behind on that surface. Each fingerprint, including repeat fingerprints on the same surface, can each be taken a picture of to obtain photo rewards.
Lights flickering or the Fuse Box being interacted with will not result in a fingerprint being left behind in these instances.

Of the many ways to identify a ghost in Specter, using the Spirit Box to talk to the ghost can prove to be the most elusive form of evidence.
There are some hidden requirements to using the Spirit Box in Specter, so here, we’re running through how to use the tool and the ghost types that the tool can communicate with in the Roblox game.
How to get a Spirit Box in Specter
The Spirit Box isn’t one of the core ghost-hunting tools of Specter. So, you’re required to purchase and equip the item before embarking on a solo hunt. In a group, you may be lucky enough to have a teammate offer you the tool.
How to equip a Spirit Box in Specter
After starting a game, you can find the Spirit Box at the back of the truck, just under the missions list and board of players’ sanity.
Pick it up (F key) to add it to your tools bar, equip it to your hand (1/2/3 key), and then turn on the Spirit Box (Q key). You’ll know that the Spirit Box is on when its screen lights up blue.
How to use a Spirit Box
With the Spirit Box equipped and turned on, the first thing that you’ll need to do is venture into a room that’s dark, and make sure that there aren’t any lights on you. Next, bring up the chat (/key) and get ready to ask it one of four questions.
All Spirit Box questions in Roblox Specter
Once you’ve opened the chat (/ key), type in one of the four questions that you can ask, per the Journal, which are:
Ask the ghost one question at a time and wait a short while before asking another. Usually, if the ghost is able to communicate via this method, it will do so promptly. That said, keep in mind that not all ghosts will respond to the Spirit Box in Specter.
However, it has also been found that when you use the Spirit Box can influence if you’ll get feedback. So, be sure to try it near the beginning and later into your hunt if you suspect that Spirit Box evidence can be acquired for the ghost at hand.

Roblox Specter: How to Identify Ghosts
Here’s everything that you need to know to identify ghosts on Specter, including how to find the ghost room, collect evidence, and the evidence needed for each entity.
Of the millions of games created for the players of Roblox, Specter stands out as one of the best horror titles available.
Having made it into our list of the most fun games to play on Roblox, we’ve decided to delve deeper into Specter to show you how to identify ghosts – which is the aim of each round of the game.
The goals of Roblox Specter align with how to play Phasmophobia: anyone familiar with the PC sensation will feel at home in this Lithium Labs creation.
So, here’s everything that you need to know about identifying ghosts in Specter, from finding the ghost room to collecting evidence and sealing your guess.
How to find the ghost room on Specter
To find the ghost room on Roblox Specter, you’ll need to use one of two items: the EMF Reader or the Thermometer.
To equip either, you’ll need to pick them up in the van (F key), and then put them in your hand (1/2/3 key, depending on the slot it occupies), and then turn them on (Q key).
Next, you’ll need to go room to room. Stepping through the doorway to see the room name change at the top of the screen is as far as you need to go to identify if it’s the ghost room in Roblox Specter.
Using the EMF Reader, you’ll see the second light (yellow light) turn on when you’re in the ghost room. With the Thermometer to hand, the temperature will drop below 9 o C when you enter the ghost room.
Once you’ve found the ghost room in Specter, it’s time to find evidence of what type of ghost is haunting the residence.
How to find the types of evidence for ghosts on Specter
There are six types of evidence that you can find, with you needing three pieces of evidence to identify ghosts in Specter. To find these pieces of evidence, you’ll need to use the tools available.
Here are the six types of evidence in Specter and how you can find them:
How to find EMF-5 evidence
To find EMF-5 evidence, you’ll to have your EMF Reader in your hand and switched on (Q key). When the ghost interacts with items, it could spark all five lights on the EMF Reader. So, if the ghost is particularly active, keep the EMF Reader in hand and switched on, just in case it causes an EMF-5 reading.
EMF-5 evidence is one clue towards identifying a Banshee, Jinn, Oni, Phantom, Revenant, or Shade ghost in Specter.
How to find Fingerprints evidence
You don’t need any tools to find Fingerprints unless the lights have been disabled, in which case, you can use your torch. Go up to windows and light switches in the ghost room to see if you can spot a single thumbprint, as shown in the image above.
Fingerprints evidence is one clue towards identifying a Banshee, Poltergeist, Revenant, Spirit, or Wraith ghost in Specter.
How to find Freezing Temperatures evidence
Freezing Temperatures can be identified in two ways. The clearest way is to walk into the ghost room with the Thermometer out and switched on (Q key) and see if it reads a temperature below 0 o C (a negative value). You can also spot this piece of evidence if you can see your breath, which takes the form of a small puff of grey smoke, and can be spotted in your torch’s light in the dark.
Freezing Temperatures evidence is one clue towards identifying a Banshee, Demon, Mare, Phantom, Wraith, or Yurei ghost in Specter.
How to find Ghost Orbs evidence
If present, Ghost Orbs can be seen floating around the ghost room when you wear the Ghost Goggles. You don’t need to turn on Ghost Goggles when you equip them via the tools bar, and the Ghost Orbs will appear as small, blue, floating balls.
Ghost Orbs evidence is one clue towards identifying a Jinn, Mare, Phantom, Poltergeist, Shade, or Yurei ghost in Specter.
How to find Spirit Box evidence
As you’d assume, you need to equip and turn on (Q key) the Spirit Box tool to find Spirit Box evidence. With the Spirit Box equipped, you’ll need to go into a dark room without any lights on around you. Next, open the chat (press / key to open the chat), and then type in one of the four possible questions:
If the ghost responds in the chat, you’ll be able to count it as evidence for your Ghost Report. What the ghost responds with doesn’t really matter when you’re looking into how to identify ghosts in Specter.
Spirit Box evidence is one clue towards identifying a Demon, Jinn, Mare, Oni, Poltergeist, Spirit, or Wraith ghost in Specter.
How to find Writing evidence
To find Writing evidence to identify a ghost in Specter, you’ll need to equip the Book tool and go to the ghost room, look to the ground to see where to place it, and then set it down (Q key). It might not happen right away, but if the ghost can provide this form of clue, it will eventually write in the book.
Writing evidence is one clue towards identifying a Demon, Oni, Revenant, Shade, Spirit, or Yurei ghost in Specter.
How to identify the ghosts on Specter
Once you’ve seen the evidence, you’ll need to go into your Journal (J) and input the evidence onto the Ghost Report page to keep a note.
Use the arrows on either side of each evidence input option to record the evidence that you’ve seen to try to identify a ghost in Specter.
As you put in evidence, the final option on the Ghost Report will change according to which ghost you could be identifying. You don’t have to be certain about all of the evidence that you put in, but collecting all three pieces will give you a definite answer to guarantee a win – if you survive.
Just in case your character suffers an untimely death, at the start of a Specter game, put three pieces of evidence into your Ghost Report so that you have a chance of identifying the ghost even if you lose.
